Be Fearless and Strong: Bible Verses for Pregnancy and Labor

I again want to share some of my thoughts during pregnancy.

It was very tough for me, the first trimester I was throwing up allll the time! Anything I would focus on made me nauseous. Nothing would stay down. Eating was not enjoyable at all! I was super hot all the time, plus my tailbone was aching, praise the Lord for our chiropractor! The second trimester was OK, still hot but not nauseous. The third was super uncomfortable! I couldn’t sleep well at all. My hips felt loose and wobbly.

Saying all of this makes it seem like we should never ever get pregnant! But not at all! Seeing this beautiful precious baby, knowing God created her and is bestowing such a wonderful responsibility, changes my perspective completely.ย It was awesome to feel baby Jasmin moving around and feeling her hiccups! That definitely helped me enjoy the experience ๐Ÿ™‚

I loved reading about Samuel’s mom Hannah, praying for a baby, begging God to bless her womb, to be able to have a child. Reading how He answered her prayer was such a blessing. I prayed for God to fill my womb with His Holy Spirit just as He did Samuel and John the Baptist:

10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

Luke 1:15

For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.

My favorite bible verse is John 16:21

A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

….its awesome that God would use this analogy referring to the time of Jesus second coming ๐Ÿ™‚ This is exactly what happens, even Mr. P was surprised…as soon as Jasmin was born I forgot about the pain I just saw this beautiful, healthy baby girl! I was screaming in pain one second and the next jut welcoming a new baby into the world! Mr. P and I switched feelings. He was calm during the labor and even making jokes, while I was huffing and puffing and then screaming too! Then Jasmin was born and I was calm and he got frantic, the adrenaline rush kicked in hard! It was pretty funny.

This verse also reminds me of something I read in the book Birthing from Within, “Labor is hard work, it hurts, and you can do it!”

Yes we CAN do it, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! Phillippians 4:13 Don’t be fooled by the fears of this world, there is no fear in perfect love. 1 John 4:18

Yes, it’s hard to believe that a baby can come out of our bodies. But we are fearfully and wonderfully made to be fruitful and multiply!

Being in this world has programmed us to think that we can’t do it, that we NEED doctors and medicine (yes I do understand they’re there for emergencies, of course!) …in reality we only NEED Gods strength and wisdom…not only for the actual labor, but for the preparation too.

Prepare your minds by Believing that you CAN do this! Make birthing yours! Not what your family, friends or doctors say it is, it is what you and our Heavenly Father say and do.

Much of my preparation felt like RE-EDUCATING or UNLEARNING what I thought I knew about childbirth and pregnancy.

I definitely recommend watching home-birth and unassisted home-birth videos on youtube ๐Ÿ™‚ I also watched animal births too! Through this type of searching I came upon orgasmic birthing, unbelievable, I’ll try it next time! Watching these videos helped my mind connect with the truth, I CAN birth my baby!

Mr. P, my husband, prayed with me and reaffirmed in me his belief that I am strong and I will birth this baby! He also prayed with me during labor and helped me prepare body, mind and spirit:) I did take herbs and used oils and a couple other things to prepare my body but I’ll share that next time so this post won’t get tooo long!

May Gods words give you strength and love and help prepare you mind, body and spirit!
